Allegedly Accidental Social Media Posts That Are Hard to Believe

Kelly Vandan
Sometimes people like to think that there are photos that just magically appear to be perfect and unplanned. However, life is not perfect like that (most of the time at least) and it's pretty rare to find something that is perfectly laid out like the pictures that you will see. Maybe they actually are accidents and maybe they are not, you will probably never know. But it is interesting to imagine that they are when you glance through the interesting and intriguing photos in this list. From once in a lifetime moments to "there's no way that happened" you will surely be surprised.

That's a Pretty Perfect Accidental Selfie

Sometimes people don't want to admit that they are taking selfies. Instead, they like to pretend that they are actually accidental photos that somehow just turned out to look perfect. Although the likelihood of this is very slim, people still like to try and pretend that is what is happening. This girl told the world that her phone slipped out of her hand and the phone timer was on as well.

Most people wouldn't look that happy if their phone had just slipped out of their hand and was sliding onto the icy ground. Most people would be terrified that their phone was about to break.

They Accidentally Bought a Car

Now of all the supposed accidents on this list, it seems unlikely that someone was able to purchase a brand new car accidentally. After all, cars are quite expensive and you usually can't just purchase one on a whim. If it was actually an accident, it makes sense that this person's mom is trying to make them sell the car. However, a bad purchase would probably describe the situation better than an accident.

It really would be interesting to find out how they were able to just buy a car on a whim like that. It is also not an old car, but a brand new one!

The Best Photos Are Accidental Photos

Maybe people do not like to admit the fact that they take selfies and they don't want the world to know that they are taking pictures of themselves. There seems to be no other logical explanation for the fact that people are claiming to take accidental selfies and then posting them on the internet. If you take a selfie, just be proud of it and show that selfie off to the world in the same way.
The Best Photos Are Accidental Photos

This person went so far as to get angry at one of her followers who mentioned that it seemed unlikely that this photo was an accident. She even threatened to block the person!

Cool Picture, but Not a Panoramic Drop

You might think it would be easier to just admit how you took a picture and go with it. However, these people are too busy trying to come up with all sorts of different excuses even if they don't make any sense. This is a pretty cool picture and it shows a panomaric like spin on an ocean view. It seems unnecessary for someone to claim that it was an accidental photo.
Cool Picture, but Not a Panoramic Drop
Ryan1sB1_ /Reddit
Instead of pretending that this cool shot is a mistake, they should tell the world how they managed to get this cool shot. People are probably quite envious!

Are They Sleeping or Resting?

There is nothing quite like having a cute sleeping photo with your partner. It is a rare moment that is hard to capture, mainly because there aren't too many chances to have someone else take a photo of you sleeping. However, this couple managed to get this photo, although it is not quite clear who was taking the picture if they were both asleep. One of the commenters suggested that maybe it was the bed bugs.
Are They Sleeping or Resting?
garnaches/reddit
Instead of being worried about not letting the bed bugs bite, maybe people should be more concerned that the bed bugs will take pictures without your consent.

Great Look, but It Couldn't Have Been an Accident

There is no doubt that these two people look amazing in their suits. They are bright and colorful and they are both rocking the outfits so wonderfully that it's no surprise that they look as amazing as they do. However, the chance that they both went into the store and picked out these perfectly matching suits, and neither of them had a clue, is quite unlikely. They are just too perfect.
Great Look, but It Couldn't Have Been an Accident
mistefmisdononm/reddit
If they have the exact same vibe maybe they both knew what the other person would be buying, but it still seems quite unlikely that this is an accident.

Her Two Year Old Is a Talented Photographer

It's one thing to pretend that you took a selfie by mistake, that your phone fell and the timer was on or that it accidentally just clicked the perfect image, but it's a whole new level when you pretend that your two year old child took the pictures. Not only is that nearly impossible for the child to take such great photos, but it's a bit strange to pin that on your kid.
Her Two Year Old Is a Talented Photographer
Purple_Pistachio/Reddit
Maybe her child really just has a potentially bright future in the world of photography. If that is the case, he can use this as the beginning of his portfolio.

Blame It on Your Friend

People love to play pranks on their friends and steal their phones and then text random people very embarrassing messages. One of the most famous pranks of this sort is when someone updates a Facebook profile picture to something absolutely ridiculous. Knowing that this is something that is done, this person tried to blame their embarrassing text message on a similar situation. However, it was quite obvious that wasn't the case.
Blame It on Your Friend
Zompokenator03/Reddit
Lizzie was probably talking to this friend about the recent break up and trying to understand what happened. Maybe this friend was drunk when she sent this message and was trying to cover her tracks.

Somehow She Didn't See the Full Length Mirror in the Room

You can admit that sometimes people are not the most observant creatures on the planet. It is easy to miss things that can be directly in front of your face at times. However, there is a limit. This person took a picture in a plush teddy bear like outfit and then tried to say that she completely forgot or didn't see that there was a mirror in the room that showed her from the back.
Somehow She Didn't See the Full Length Mirror in the Room
DieEneBart/Reddit
It's a nice photo so there wasn't really a reason for her to try to explain that she wasn't actually trying to take a photo of the entire look. She could just admit that she knew there was a mirror there as it's hard to miss.

The Phone That Takes Random Photos

Have you ever heard of a phone that takes random photos of you? It does not really exist, except within the world of horror films and sci-fi. Big Brother isn't quite there yet, however, so it would be surprising to find that phones have managed to start taking photos of their users without their permission. That is especially the case with photos that also come out perfect enough to post and share.
The Phone That Takes Random Photos
ergoegthatis/Reddit
It must have been pretty scary for this person to suddenly realize that their phone is taking random photos of them without their permission. They might have a virus if this is what is happening with the phone.

Just Two Peas in a Pod

Half of a day seems like a very long time to realize that you are wearing almost the exact same outfit as your spouse. If it were just a similar outfit then it would make sense that you might not notice at first glance, however, this is a pretty specific outfit and it is hard to believe that it took them both almost a whole day to realize they were matching.
Just Two Peas in a Pod
Casey/reddit
There is nothing wrong with matching outfits with your partner. If that is your thing, then go for it! But whatever you choose to do, be proud of it and don't try to pretend that it was an accident.

Slick Way to Get Out of an Awkward Text

People will do just about anything to make it seem like they didn't do something embarrassing. Instead of just admitting their mistake, they will come up with all sorts of different excuses. This person messaged someone saying hello. They didn't respond and so they messaged again, this time including the word "baby". The person on the receiving end was not happy about this and made that quite clear. The response was comical.
Slick Way to Get Out of an Awkward Text
paulblartmallcap/Reddit
Instead of just apologizing and telling the person that they did not mean to offend, they came up with a long excuse as to how they accidentally sent the message by using voice to text as they were talking to their baby cousin. Nice try!

Looking at the Dog Running By

If you had to title this picture, the last thing you would think of for a title would probably be "looking at my puppy as he ran by" since most people don't look at their dog running by in the air. It seems that she didn't want to admit that she was taking a full on selfie on portrait mode as she looked wistfully into the distance. On the contrary, she wanted to blame it on her dog that ran by.
Looking at the Dog Running By
JohnWeed4-20/Reddit
She just forgot that most dogs run by on the ground and not in the air, which makes this into a very unbelievable situation.

Blame It on the Autocorrect

When in doubt and when you put yourself in an awkward and uncomfortable situation, you can always try to blame it on the autocorrect. It's the best way to try to get out of a situation where you put your foot in your mouth. However, most of the time it is quite obvious that autocorrect was not the one to blame. After all, what could be the alternative word in this situation to "nakey"?
Blame It on the Autocorrect
unwashedbodypillow95/Reddit
At least this person was honest about everything, admitting that they really messed up when they said this last sentence. Even autocorrect could not save him though.

They Need a Lot of Smoke Detectors in the House

It's nothing to be embarrassed about that you left a little bit of food in the oven and as a result ended up burning it when you went to cook something else, forgetting entirely that there was something in the oven before. However, this person took it to a new extreme. Their smoke detector was going off for a week before they realized that they left a whole tray of sausage rolls in there.
They Need a Lot of Smoke Detectors in the House
Orbital_Exile/Reddit
Not only were they burnt to a crisp at that point, but the real question here is why did they not think that there was something wrong with their oven or their smoke detectors that it kept going off for no reason.

If It's Meant to Be Private, Put It in Private

It's always funny when you see someone mention, after they post something on social media, that they did not actually mean to post it. After all, are they not aware that there is something called the delete button? It almost makes it seem like they want to pretend like it was a mistake when it actually wasn't. Almost like a humble brag. Either way, something about it is quite cringe.
If It's Meant to Be Private, Put It in Private
bombasser/Reddit
If he is proud of how much he is able to lift then for all means show it off to the world. But he shouldn't be pretending that he doesn't want to show it off.

He Does Not Know How to Handle Rejection

It is one thing to send an initial text and then realize that it was a mistake. However, it is a whole other thing to have an entire conversation with someone and then at the end of it to tell them that the messages were sent to the wrong person. It just doesn't make any sense. This person asked someone on a date. They didn't fully reject them even, but just explained that they were too busy.
He Does Not Know How to Handle Rejection
MisunderstoodToast/Reddit
However, the person was too offended and hurt to be able to respond properly. So even though they were kind with their temporary rejection, they did not take it well.

Some Things Never Change

People love to find photos of themselves from years past. It is a blast from the past and usually a good memory. But there is nothing better than accidentally (or intentionally) recreating those same photos years later. These two friends did just that a year after they captured the original photo that was a sweet memory. They didn't even mean to recreate it perfectly a year later!
Some Things Never Change
Reddit
They look like they aged quite a bit in just one year. Although you can clearly tell that they are the same people, they look almost five years older.

That Isn't Even Close to Blond

Now unless someone pranked this woman or she was temporarily blinded when she went to buy the box of hair dye, there is almost no way that this was an accident. There is no chance that you have intentions to dye your hair blond and then someone it ends up turning into a perfect rainbow. Rainbow hair is not something easy to achieve so it is impressive that it was done this perfectly.
That Isn't Even Close to Blond
steevkelp/Reddit
She should be excited that she was able to create such a beautiful look before her prom day. It is definetly unique and she will be standing out quite a bit.

The Most Magical Baby Moment

It can be difficult to get photos of your baby when they are young and as a new parent, there is usually nothing that you want more than that. However, children do not always cooperate and it can be quite difficult to get them to stay still long enough to capture the shot. This father saw the perfect opportunity and went for it...to create a Lion King like moment with mother and child.
The Most Magical Baby Moment
sgtsandwich/Reddit
Do you think he even knew that the lighting and everything would be so perfect as to create a picture like this one? It is not only memorable but perhaps one of the best photoshoots they will ever have as a family.

You Can't Always Trust Siri

People ask Siri all sorts of crazy questions and sometimes it does get a little bit out of hand. After all, Siri can answer the basic type of questions that are available and public knowledge online, however, Siri does not know the answer to specific and personal questions about love life. If this series of unfortunate events really did happen to poor Ceci here, then she will probably never utilize the Siri feature for such a thing again.
You Can't Always Trust Siri
skynomads/Reddit
If she was really that embarrassed about this whole situation then she probably wouldn't have posted about it on twitter as well, knowing that person was probably going to see that as well.

That Better Be a Joke

With a pickup line as terrible as that one, you can only hope that they are actually joking. After all, who opens a conversation with "hey, you're cute. Wanna make our or something?". Is there anyone who would answer yes to that and who would think that is a normal thing to ask without even getting to know someone first? Clearly, it didn't work out, and the person tried to pretend that it was all just a joke.
That Better Be a Joke
saint-cardon/Reddit
It almost definitely wouldn't have been a joke if the person would have responded yes. The person would have definitely gone with it.

Snapchat Mistakes... Or Maybe Not Mistakes

Now this one seems like an interesting situation. This person posted on social media that they accidentally posted a nude photo on their Snapchat story. They then wanted to make it clear that they knew that they looked great and yet they were still embarrassed by the choice (or mistake) to post it. As a result, they would be deleting it, since it was (clearly) an accident and was not meant to be posted.
Snapchat Mistakes... Or Maybe Not Mistakes

If they were that ashamed about the fact that they posted a nude photo on their Snapchat story then they probably wouldn't want to share it with the world on another platform.

Sending a Marriage Certificate to an Ex Partner

Sometimes an action is just way too perfect to be an accident. There is no way that someone would accidentally send a picture of their marriage certificate to an ex partner. That was a very intentional act and that person should not have tried to pretend that it was an accident. They wanted to get a message across and they sent that message with no shame (well maybe just a little bit of shame).
Sending a Marriage Certificate to an Ex Partner

It is a little sad to think that someone is getting married to someone new and is still so hurt and obsessed with their previous relationship that they would send their new marriage certificate to the person.

You Can't Really Accidentally PM Someone

It makes sense that someone would get nervous about sending a random PM to someone on a social media app. After all, it is quite a strange thing to do when you think about it. You don't know this person and you're just popping up to say hello. This person sent that message and instead of proudly standing behind it, even once the person responded, they tried to claim that it was all an accident.
You Can't Really Accidentally PM Someone

The best part of this situation is that the person who was "accidentally" PM'ed did not let them get away with the silly excuse and called them out on it.

There Probably Aren't Many People Who Can Relate to This

Somehow it seems like there is a running theme here of people "accidentally" buying cars. That seems like a very strange thing to accidentally purchase as it is quite a large purchase to make on a whim, let alone accidentally. However, this person is claiming that they went on a trip to buy some new clothes. And instead of getting clothes, they purchased a car...accidentally. And the funniest part is that they think this is #relatable.
There Probably Aren't Many People Who Can Relate to This
drumforthewin/Reddit
What kind of clothing stores are they going to that they just happen to pass by a car dealership and choose to buy one of those instead.

Please Excuse His Wallpaper

Although many people do love to put images of their significant others on their wallpapers and their backgrounds, most people don't put inappropriate images that they would be uncomfortable with other people seeing. That is mainly due to the fact that people will inevitably see them, as this image shows. This young man seems a little too excited to have people seeing his background that it makes it seem like this is not really his girlfriend.
Please Excuse His Wallpaper
Pegion/Reddit
He could also have very easily turned the screen off or even scooted over a little bit when he was filming the video so that you could not see his "girlfriend's" booty.

Ignorance Is Bliss When It Comes to Tasers

There are some times when you should probably do a little bit of research before admitting things to people. After all, do you really want the whole world to know that you do not know or understand how tasers work? This Youtuber, known as Logan Paul, told the entire world that he didn't know that tasers actually electrocute anything. It's unclear what he actually thought that they did if not electrocute though.

It almost seems like they chose the perfect picture to go along with this headline. They wanted to forment the fact that he was not the brightest in that moment.

Nothing Like a Perfect Accidental Selfie

It always seems to be the case that accidental photos happen, but only when they are in selfie mode. How is it possible that this many people are able to get the perfect selfie just by accident as they are "going to grab their phone"? It doesn't seem to be very likely and yet there are quite a few people claiming that this is exactly what has happened. Impressive accidental selfie this is!
Nothing Like a Perfect Accidental Selfie

Maybe she wanted to show off her entire outfit and that is why she also made sure to have her nails and her skirt and her green hair all in the picture at once.

When There Is No Respect for Boundaries

When you first start to read through this chat, you might be led to believe that the people sending the messages are actually quite nice and respectful since they asked the other person if they could send a selfie. However, that other person said that they could not send them a selfie. Instead of respecting that, this person sent the selfie anyway and asked if they also wanted to video chat.
When There Is No Respect for Boundaries
Reddit
The person once again said no (not surprisingly) and instead of just letting it go and calling it a loss, they tried to pretend that they were messaging the wrong person the entire time.

When Your Cereal Has OCD

It seems strange that someone would want to pretend that they were eating cereal when all of a sudden the squares of the cereal aligned perfectly and individually in the bowl as is shown in the picture. It would make a lot more sense that they would be super proud of themselves for managing to get the cereal into the perfect alignment like this all on their own. They should be proud of their achievements.
When Your Cereal Has OCD
antfro946/Reddit
Maybe by some weird or strange force of nature, the cereal squares were actually aligned like this all on their own, however, it seems very, very unlikely.

When You Accidentally Write a Thesis

Ok, so it makes sense that there are some things in life that people are very passionate about. And they can get carried away with them without even realizing that it is like work. That is exactly what this person claimed happened when they sat down to write a reaction paper for a class. It was supposed to be a short 4-page paper, but somehow it turned into an 18-page paper before they even noticed.
When You Accidentally Write a Thesis
Reddit
That is pretty impressive to write 18 full pages before realizing that you may have overdone it a little bit. However, it seems that they were enjoying themselves and the topic.

That's an Expensive Mistake to Make

Most people can't afford to make such an expensive mistake as this person. How do you think it was possible that they accidentally paid for a 3 bedroom suite instead of something that would have been more suitable for an individual? They had to have noticed that the price was significantly higher than something that would have been rational. If not, they must have a lot of money to spare that is just lying around.
That's an Expensive Mistake to Make

Did they not look at the listing at all before they booked the place? They should try to find other people who would want to stay with them to make up for the cost.

Beautiful Photos, but Not Accidental

There is no shame in admitting that you noticed you were having a good hair day and, as a result, wanted to show that off to the rest of the world. So you decided to take a few photos of yourself to show off the day that you were looking amazing. You can't argue with the fact that this girl clearly was having a great hair day, but just admit that you took the selfies!
Beautiful Photos, but Not Accidental
mdgayns/Reddit
This caption would have been fine if she just included that they were random photos. There was no need for her to also claim that they were accidental.

That's One Way to Get a Lower Price

Either this person is a bit reckless with the messages that he sends on Facebook marketplace or they are using this as a tactic to get a lower price out of someone. After all, if they make the seller feel that their product is easily purchased, then they will probably be more likely to reduce the price somewhat. This one could actually be an honest mistake as it's easy to send an accidental message on the marketplace.
That's One Way to Get a Lower Price
Aiming16/Reddit
It would be interesting to see if they were able to get a better price as a result of this tactic at the end of the day. Was it successful?

Trying to Break All of the Rules and Make Money

Airbnb has become infamously difficult to use in the past years, mostly due to the fact that hosts are becoming more and more audacious as time goes on. They are just looking to make the most money possible and if that means that they unethically add fees to every listing and even attempt things as crazy as this. The host tried to raise the price even after the person had already booked and paid for the listing.
Trying to Break All of the Rules and Make Money
atlasduck/Reddit
When the other person pointed out that this goes against Airbnb's policies, they changed their opinion and made it seem like it was all an accident or mistake.

Shopping List in a Fictional Language

You must be pretty skilled in a fictional language if you are able to write a shopping list in this language. It seems also like this is way too intentional for it to be an accident. How is it possible that someone writes an entire piece of paper in a different language by accident? It may not be an accident, but it is impressive in a certain way that they are able to.
Shopping List in a Fictional Language
Reddit
The only silly part about all this is that they tried to claim that it was all an accident.

A Very Special Candid Moment

Out of all the images on this list, it seems like this is one of the few ones that could actually be an accidental photo. The man truly does not seem to know that his photo is being taken and the woman looks confused in her own right. She claims that they were both praying when the camera took the photo without their knowledge. This seems like it could actually be the case here.
A Very Special Candid Moment
cptcrunch2600/Reddit
This does appear to be a pretty candid. Afterall, it is a rather strange image to pose for at the end of the day, not like some of the other selfies on this list.

It Is Only a Prank When She Doesn't Respond

There is nothing wrong with shooting your shot, but you have to know that there is always a chance that you will get turned down, especially if you are shooting that shot online. This man was trying to get this lady's Snapchat for his friend and she didn't respond. He messaged again and when she didn't respond for the second time he tried to pull it all off like it was a prank.
It Is Only a Prank When She Doesn't Respond
majka7279/Reddit
The best part is that the girl didn't respond to any of the messages, making it even more awkward for the guy.

Just Blame It All on the Dare

It looks like this person knew that they were shooting a risky shot asking this person out. They were pretty sure that the answer would be no and that is why they had a backup plan of blaming it on a dare right from the beginning. They had that armed and loaded, ready to use. However, in the end, it actually just made it seem a bit more desperate than anything.
Just Blame It All on the Dare
www.reddit.com
There are way too many laughy faces in this conversation. This person was so clearly uncomfortable about asking this person out and was already prepared for the worst.

If you liked it, you should share it
